Hiroshima city officials take books listing the names of victims of the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of the western Japanese city from a stone chamber at the Peace Memorial Park on May 15, 2024. A total of 125 books containing 339,227 names were aired out ahead of the rainy season.

Hiroshima city officials air out books listing the names of victims of the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing of the western Japanese city after removing them from a stone chamber beneath the cenotaph for the victims at the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima on May 15, 2024. The officials also turned each page to check the condition of the 125 books, which contain a total of 339,227 names, ahead of the rainy season.
